Passion
and a vivid imagination are clearly evident in the work of Lubna Chowdhary.
Her pieces exude a rare beauty which combines traditional craft techniques
with contemporary colour combinations, abstract motifs and graphic line.
These hand crafted pieces display a painterly quality that tests the limitations
of glazing and demonstrate an intuitive sense of colour, texture and composition.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art and a Jerwood nominee ,with an
impressive portfolio of commissions, Lubna brings a fresh approach and
a new aesthetic to ceramics.
Chowdhary's strikingly beautiful glazes are blended in her studio, and
painted in multiple layers onto tiles of various dimensions and textures.
Each tile is then taken through numerous firings, before it is ready to
take its place in a meticulously considered composition .
The uniquely captivating vitality of this work makes it ideal for commissions
of bespoke ceramic artworks.
Site specific works for domestic or commercial, interior or exterior spaces
are undertaken and clients are welcomed to the studio workshop in London
to discuss their requirements.
An exclusive selection of tiles designed for Agnes Emery is available
in the Emery and Cie shops in Paris, Antwerp and Brussels.
